Beard Transplant by FUE and BHT
A beard transplant is a surgical procedure designed to restore facial hair density and coverage. Men seeking fuller beards — whether to fill patchy areas, conceal scarring or redefine their beard line — can achieve natural, permanent results through follicular transplantation.
Before you travel
At a glance
- Duration
- A beard transplant typically takes between 6 and 8 hours, depending on the number of grafts being placed.
- Anaesthesia
- The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia on an outpatient basis. Both the donor site and the recipient area are numbed, so you remain awake and comfortable throughout.
- Convalescence
- Mild discomfort, swelling and redness in the treated zones are normal immediately after surgery. These effects are temporary and usually resolve within a few days. Following your surgeon's aftercare instructions is essential for proper healing. Timeline for Full Beard GrowthCrusting begins shortly after the procedure and clears within 7 to 10 days. New hair emerges between the 14th and 22nd week. Final density and texture are best assessed at 8 to 12 months, at which point you can trim and style your beard freely. A 12‑month follow‑up is recommended to evaluate the outcome. Remote Follow‑Up After Surgery AbroadThroughout the 12 months following your transplant, we coordinate postoperative monitoring with your surgeon. This allows the doctor to track healing and growth, adjusting care instructions — such as massage techniques, topical treatments or medications — as needed.
- Results
- Beard transplantation addresses a range of concerns: complete absence of facial hair, insufficient density, scarring, patchy coverage and irregular beard contours. Results are visible soon after the procedure, and a single session is sufficient to meet the goals of approximately 90% of patients. Success Rates Outcomes depend on graft quality and surgical precision. In general, success rates are high, with the vast majority of patients achieving denser, more aesthetically balanced beards that meet their expectations.
Le traitement
What this treatment involves
The procedure involves harvesting hair follicles from a donor site and transplanting them into areas of the beard where growth is sparse or absent. Once established, these grafts produce hair that grows continuously, allowing you to shape and maintain your beard as desired.
The Surgical Technique
Beard restoration combines two extraction methods: FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and BHT (Body Hair Transplantation). Grafts are typically taken from the scalp — usually the back or sides of the head — because scalp hair closely matches the growth rate of facial hair. In some cases, body hair may also be used.
- Initial assessment to map the beard design and determine graft requirements
- Preparation of the donor zone for follicle extraction
- Individual extraction of follicular units using FUE
- Preparation of recipient sites in the beard area
- Precise implantation of grafts to match natural beard patterns
How the Procedure Unfolds
Before surgery, you meet with the surgeon to finalise the beard shape and density. The transplant itself proceeds in three phases:
- Extraction: follicular units are removed one by one from the donor area using a titanium micro-punch between 0.7 and 0.9 mm in diameter. Extraction marks are nearly invisible and fade within two weeks.
- Graft preparation: each follicle is isolated, cleaned and inspected under magnification to ensure viability.
- Implantation: micro-incisions are made in the beard zone according to the agreed design. Prepared follicles are then placed into these sites using a fine needle.
